Infrared (IR) simultaneous interpretation systems use infrared light to transmit the interpreter's audio from the booth to wireless receivers worn by the audience. Transmitters (radiators) are installed in the room and emit an IR signal; each receiver picks up the signal and plays the selected language channel through a headset. There are no cables from the booth to the seats, so setup is clean and the room can be reconfigured. A key advantage of IR is that infrared does not pass through walls. In a venue with multiple rooms or breakout sessions, each room can have its own channel or language without interference.
