Official MOM rule

Original document plus English translation

MOM's Employment Pass and S Pass pages state that the non-English original and English translation must be uploaded together as one file, and that a translation service provider may prepare the translation.

This rule concerns the language and packaging of a supporting document. It does not decide pass eligibility and it does not replace any qualification verification MOM requests.

Pass-by-pass scope

Which MOM applications use translated documents?

The application and document request control the requirement. These rows distinguish published rules from conditional support.

Employment Pass and S Pass
MOM says a non-English original and its English translation should be uploaded together as one file. A translation service provider may prepare the translation.
Published rule
Dependant's Pass, MOM LTVP and Training Employment Pass
The current document pages also use an original-plus-English-translation file rule. Follow the checklist for the exact family or training document requested.
Pass-specific checklist
PEP, EntrePass and Miscellaneous Work Pass
MOM permits provider-prepared English translations, but document lists and upload instructions differ. The EntrePass business plan itself must be in English.
Application-specific
Work Permit and exceptional routes
There is no single blanket rule for every Work Permit upload. Use the live request or form. Some routes, such as Work Holiday Pass university documents, specify a different certifying party.

Do not confuse these

Translation is not qualification verification

Both can appear in an Employment Pass workflow, but they answer different questions and use different evidence.

English translation

Accurately renders the source document in English and keeps the names, dates, grades, seals and identifiers traceable to the original.

Qualification verification

Establishes that a qualification is authentic and from an accredited institution using an MOM-accepted source. Translation or notarisation alone does not provide that verification.

Documents handled

Work-pass supporting documents we translate

Only translate documents required for the actual candidate, family member, employer or application—not a generic bundle.

Education and qualifications

Degree and diploma certificates, academic transcripts, professional licences and membership records when requested.

Employment and salary records

Employment contracts, employer letters, payslips, bank statements, tax records and employment history where applicable.

Personal and family documents

Birth, marriage, divorce, adoption, name-change and household documents for pass holders or eligible family members.

Company and supporting records

Business documents, licences, professional-body letters and other supporting evidence requested for a particular application.

File preparation

A translation package that remains easy to verify

The source and English version should be complete, readable and simple for the employer or employment agent to compare before upload.

Readable source

Use a complete colour or greyscale scan. Include reverse pages, seals, stamps, signatures and handwritten notes.

Complete English translation

Translate every visible field without silently changing names, dates, grades, amounts or document identifiers.

Name and number review

Flag spelling differences against the passport. MOM may require an explanation letter and evidence such as a deed poll.

Correct upload package

For EP and S Pass documents, pair the original and English translation in one readable file before upload.

Translife translates the document supplied; we do not rewrite a qualification, silently normalise a different name or claim that a translation affects COMPASS points or work-pass approval.

MOM translation FAQ

MOM document translation questions

Current answers about provider status, upload packaging, verification, notarisation and conditional Work Permit support.

Is Translife a MOM-approved translation company?

MOM's current EP and S Pass guidance says a translation service provider may prepare the English translation. It does not endorse Translife or publish a general list of MOM-approved translation companies. We operate as an independent Singapore translation provider.

Does MOM require the original and translation in one PDF?

For Employment Pass and S Pass supporting documents, MOM says to upload the non-English original together with its English translation as one file. Follow the live upload prompt because file type and size instructions can change by application.

Does an English translation verify my qualification?

No. Translation makes the document readable in English. Qualification verification is a separate MOM requirement using accepted verification sources. MOM expressly says an education certificate or a notarised document is not, by itself, qualification-verification proof.

Must every MOM translation be notarised?

The current EP and S Pass document pages allow a translation service provider and do not state a universal notarisation requirement. Some application types or supporting documents can have separate requirements, so use the exact MOM checklist or request for your case.

Can you translate documents for a Work Permit application?

Yes, when the relevant MOM form or document request calls for an English translation. Work Permit routes are not identical, so we review the actual prompt rather than claiming that every Work Permit document follows one blanket rule.

How much does MOM document translation cost?

Standard certified document translation in Singapore starts around SGD 60-80 per standard page. Final pricing depends on language, length, legibility, formatting and deadline. Notarial, attestation, courier or bulk-HR handling is quoted separately when requested.
